Future Directives, LLC will review or develop a hiring procedure that best fits your company. When you need to fill an open position, we will compose and place the advertisement in the local paper (at company cost). Future Directives LLC receives a discount at the Hartford Courant. This discount is passed along to our clients. For key positions, we will screen applications, set-up interviews, interview candidates and work with you to make an offer. We will train your supervisors or managers on how to interview and conduct reference checks. Services provided:

Maria Fisher-Proulx is a human resources generalist. As a co-founder of Future Directives, LLC, she is instrumental in helping clients find cost effective solutions to their unique human resource challenges. Maria has developed a wide range of human resource programs and policies ranging from Employee Handbooks, Compensation Management to specific Training needs. She has over twenty five years experience in the human resource field, twenty-two years experience in the banking industry and ten years experience in finance, retail and manufacturing. Ms. Fisher-Proulx holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and Sociology from Southern Connecticut State University, a Professional Certification in Human Resource Management from the University of New Haven Graduate School and is a graduate of the Connecticut and National School of Finance and Management. She is a member of the Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut, The Society of Human Resources Management, Chairperson for the Greater New Haven Chamber Human Resource Council and a former member of the Connecticut Bankers Association Human Resource Committee.

Looking at the people you current;y hire for your business or for other businesses, what are their strengths and what are their weaknesses?
There is a lot of discussion in K-12 education about the importance of content knowledge (knowing a lot of “stuff” about math, science, social studies, language arts, etc.) versus the importance of learning skills and students being able to construct their own understanding of material/ideas that are new to them (being able to “learn how to learn”). What are your thoughts regarding how much we should focus on content knowledge versus focusing on students’ ability to learn/adapt/grow?
There is also a lot of discussion in education between being successful as an individual and being successful as part of a group or team. How important is it for kids to be working in groups in school?
Tell us a little bit about any changes you foresee for the workplace in the next 5-15 years. What do you think this means for students currently in high school and for K-12 education in general?
